The novel Flights (“Bieguny”) by Nobel Prize winner Olga Tokarczuk is a multi-layered work, a journey through time, the world, and layers of consciousness. This journey takes us across the external and internal worlds, which inevitably manifest themselves through their fragmentary nature. O. Tokarczuk immerses the reader in the mystery, the very fog of the world in which man wanders. In this way the complex book appears as a mysterious and transformative force.

The existential text has undoubtedly inspired actress Aldona Vilutytė and director Jonas Kuprevičius – theater creators of different generations – to create a chamber performance in which the themes of the novel are explored through one woman’s intimate presence with herself. A Presence that tries to grasp thinking, which, although finite, changes until the very end, is never silent and moves from one point to another. A presence while trying to be an invisible observer of the world and people, learning to accept her anxiety and running. It is a journey of imagination through the structures of life and existence, observing them through the small lens of consciousness. According to O. Tokarczuk, “we can only see the world as fragmented, there will never be another way. There are moments, pieces, temporary configurations, which fall apart almost as soon as they are formed. Life? I see no such thing; I only see lines, flat surfaces, bodies and how they change over time. And time merely seems like a device for measuring minor changes, a school ruler with a simplified scale that has only three divisions: the past, the present and the future.”

Aldona Vilutytė has performed in various theaters since 1995. The actress has created more than 70 roles in Keistuoliai Theater, Open Circle Theater, Lithuanian National Drama Theater, Oskaras Koršunovas Theater, NO THEATER, Art and Science Laboratory, and so on and so forth. A cinema and TV actress,  TV presenter, voice artist for LRT, audiobook narrator, radio play actor, and creator of poetry evenings. In 2019, Vilutytė directed the play Bestuburiada at the National Kaunas Drama Theater. She is an Associate Professor at the Lithuanian Academy of Music and Theater. Author and director of the literary evenings cycle, Literarium.

Jonas Kuprevičius – a theater director of the youngest generation. Graduated from the Lithuanian Academy of Music and Theater in 2023 with a degree in theater directing (studied under Gintaras Varnas). While still in his fourth year, he made his directorial debut with the plays Swimming pool. Without Water (Kaunas Chamber Theatre) and Camino Real (Juozas Miltinis Drama Theatre). Currently, the young creator is a participant of the Youth Theater program Black Box and a resident director at the theater.
