Režisierius Adomas Juška apie savo spektaklį pasakoti pradeda pavadinimo paaiškinimu.

Guašas (pranc. gouache < it. guazzo):

1. Neskaidrūs akvareliniai dažai. Labai greitai išdžiūsta, dėl to tinkami greitam tapymui, en plein air, įvairiems škicams ir eskizams.

Idėjos užuomazga man dažnai įdomesnė nei išvystytas rezultatas.
Jausmo užuomina paveikesnė nei pilnai išreikšta emocija.
Matisas sakė: piešimas – tai ekspresyvus gestas, išliekantis amžinai.
Aktoriaus gestas – tai piešinys, išliekantis akimirkai.
Noriu iš šių piešinių sukurti spektaklį,
vaizduotei suteikdamas visišką laisvę,
nesiremdamas jokia literatūra.
Tepti dažų sluoksnį tiesiai ant drobės,
prieš tai nenusibraižęs visų kontūrų pieštuku.

2. Mokykliniai dažai.

Mokykloje žmogus pirmą kartą susipažįsta su apibrėžta socialine terpe, su oficialiomis ir nerašytomis galios struktūromis. Patekęs į šias taisykles, jis privalo surasti savo vaidmenį, nebrandžiu ir dažnai gėdingu vaidybos keliu. Kol kas jis dar nežino, kad šios kaukės ir manieros, kurias pasitelkęs jis kuria savo vaidmenį, nėra tokios laikinos, kaip gali atrodyti. Jos palieka gilų ir ryškų įspaudą savo vidine puse, ir pabandęs jas nusiimti žmogus nustemba, po kauke pamatęs tą patį atvaizdą. Kitaip tariant, mokykla yra ilgas ir sunkus žmogaus tapimas savimi – per mėgdžiojimą, per prisitaikymą, per vaidinimą. Mane domina būtent tos kaukės, manieros, kaip personažo kostiumas, kurį rengiasi vis nauji vaikai, vis toje pačioje vietoje, ir paskui palieka po savęs kitoms kartoms.

Apleistoje mokykloje, seniai nebelankomoje mokinių, suskamba skambutis ir pradeda autonomiškai veikti būtent tie kostiumai, gestai, kaukės. Kokius ritualus jie atlieka? Kokias istorijas pasakoja? Tai tarsi senas mokyklos dienynas, rašytas nei vaikų, nei suaugusiųjų, kuriame praeitis maišosi su vaizduote, kuriame nužymėti ištisų klasių likimai ir neišsipildę sapnai. Aktorių veikimo logika nėra įprastinė, jie nevaidina atskirų, griežtai apibrėžtų personažų. Jų atliekami veiksmai nepriklauso jiems, jie yra tik kažkada seniai praeitų gestų ir manierų aidas, atkartojimas. Bendras vaizdas, kuriame vietoje idėjų matome idėjų parodijas ir pamėgdžiojimus, – tai fantasmagoriškas ir nebrandus pasaulio mikrokosmas.
